Mission Statement
Gharoaa is an organization that strives to share and cultivate an awareness of Indian culture and tradition within the Greater Philadelphia area. Each year, we organize and host traditional Indian festivals, and events of cultural significance that celebrate talents of Indian singers, writers, musicians through live performances, social events and discussions.
Charity Objectives & Goals
In addition to Gharoaa’s mission as an organization, the community is also involved in volunteering time, effort, and money to those who are less fortunate. The Charity Committee was started in 2016 and we are proud to be making significant contribution to several charitable organizations this year also. Members of the Charity Committee and the general Gharoaa members have donated money as well as their time and effort. This year we will be donating money to the Baptist Church in the greater Philadelphia area, the Karala relief fund and general cancer awareness. At this year’s annual Gharoaa “Fun Day” (picnic) celebration, Prabhat Bhattacharya donated saris that were sold to the picnic participants. The proceeds from the sari sale as well as donations from Gharoaa members during the picnic, raised a significant amount of money for our charity causes. We would like to convey our heartfelt thanks to Prabhat Bhattacharya and the Gharoaa community for making this effort a big success.
